Meugang Acehnese Tradition

Meugang Acehnese Tradition Hello again guys this time I want to share about a tradition in my home, it is called megang. Usually megang take 3 times a year ( in the beginning of Ramadan, the end of Ramadan when 2- 4 days before Idul fitri, and 2-4 days before Iidul adha ). Every meugang, there are unusual activities, market more crowded with meat vendor who sell it in front of stores selling various of necessity. Meugang is a tradition in Aceh, no provinces have this tradition. It is not surprising, meat vendor all of a sudden appear at the market. In Banda Aceh, meat vendor around at sub districts and villages; Ulee Kareng, Darussalam, Peunayong, Beurawe, Setui and others. At the morning, the road is quiet and the Market as a central of bustle. History of Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Aceh Hello guys today I will share a bit about the history of Baiturrahman Grand Mosque in Aceh, my birthplace. Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a Mosque located in the center of Banda Aceh city, Aceh Province, Indonesia. The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a symbol of religion, culture, spirit, strength, struggle and nationalism of Acehnese people. The mosque is a landmark of Banda Aceh and has survived the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. The original Masjid Raya ("Grand Mosque") was built in 1612 during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda. Some say the original mosque was built even earlier in 1292 by Sultan Alaidin Mahmudsyah. The original royal mosque featured a multi-tiered thatched roof, a typical feature of Acehnese architecture.
