This traditional dance in aceh, it is called Ranup Lam Puan dance. One of Aceh's life philosophies is upholding high hospitality in welcoming guests. This Life Philosophy is so visible in the Acehnese daily life, even at their art and culture. One of them is through “Ranup Lampuan Dance”. Ranup Lampuan in the Acehnese language means Sirih Dalam Puan or Betel on the tray. Puan is Acehnese typical betel tray. Ranup Lampuan is Acehnese traditional dance which is a symbol of the Acehnese custom in welcoming guests. Guests are usually welcomed with full honors by presenting ranup or betel.Ranup Lampuan is usually danced by female dancers. The dancers must be female, because the job of presenting betel in Acehnese custom is done by the women. The dance movements show how the betel presented to the guests. In Acehnese people, sirih or betel and puan (ladies) are the symbols hospitality. Beside as the greeter’s dish,  Ranup have an important role in the social rituals of the Acehnese, so  it is always  present in various processions , among others, wedding , circumcision , even  burial.Ranup Lampuan Dance was created in 1959 by Aceh artist Yuslizar. At first, this dance was only found in the municipality of Banda Aceh. But it quickly spreaded to every county and other cities throughout the province. Ranup Lampuan initially, did not use the property such as a scarf, and the dancers wore a high bun Aceh decorated headdress. But now, the dancers wear scarf and
Ache’s typical dress.  The dance which lasts for three to nine minutes was initially accompanied by an orchestra or band. Ranup Lampuan originally accompanied by music orchestra or band, but eventually it is replaced by the accompaniment of traditional musical instruments, namely Aceh Serune kale, Gendrang , and Rapa'i. Serune Kale is a typical trumpet from Aceh with the shape is similar to the clarinet. While Gendrang and Rapa'i are of Aceh typical percussion instruments. This traditional musical instruments accompany the Ranup Lampuan dance which is usually performed in  specific activities, such as the arrival of a state guests, local and foreign travelersm, or waiting for Linto and Dara Baro or bride and groom at a wedding reception.
