ASL ( American sign language ) has
exist since 200 years ago around 18th century. ASL was made by
combining French sign language and local sign language. The speaker of this
video is deaf. She said that a deaf person who lived in this world without
sound it’s like a foreigner living in another country by blindly following that
country laws without researching it’s origins first.
In 2008 she went Germany to stay for
few days as an artist residence there. In there she counter a problem which is
there are no visual art there only auditory. She knows it might be a problem
but that does not deter her. To know sound we don’t just have experience sound
with ears, but sound can be felt factually or experience as a visual. When she
delved into the world of music she found several similarities between music and
ASL. ASL worked by broken down to many different grammatical parameters to
express different ideas.
ASL is such a rich treasure that she likes to have
the some experience.
And
she'd like to invite us opening our ears, eyes, and take part in our
culture
and
experience our visual language. And we will never know
we might love it.
