Narrative Text

Now I will tell you about narrative text. Narrative text is an account of a sequence of events, usually in chronological order. The purpose of a text is to amuse, entertain the reader or listener about the story. Narrative deals with problematic events which lead to a crisis or turning point of some kind, which in turn finds a resolution.
The steps for constructing a narrative text are:
1. Orientation
It is about the opening paragraph where the sets, the scene and the character of the story are introduced. It usually answer the questions who? When? Where? 
2. Complication
It is a series of complication or where the problems in the story developed
3. Resolution
Where the problems in the story are solved. The problem may be resolved for better or worse happily or unhappily.
Narrative text has 4 forms that I know. Which are?
a. Legend
Legend is a narrative of human actions that are perceived both by teller and listeners to take place within human his story. Typically a legend is a short, traditional and historicity narrative performed in a conversational mode. Example: The Legend of Toba Lake, Sangkuriang,
And Timun Mas.
b. Fable
Fable is a short allegorical narrative making a moral point, traditionally by means of animal characters who speak like act like human beings. Example the Ants and Grasshopper, The smartest parrot, etc. 
c. Fairy tale
Fairy tale typically features like folkloric characters as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, adwares, giants or gnomes and usually magic or enchantments. Example Snow White, Cinderella, The story of Rapunzel.
d. Science Fiction
       Science fiction is fiction based upon some imagined development of science, or upon the extrapolation of a tendency in society. Science fiction is that class of prose narrative treating of a situation that could not arise in the world we know. Some examples of science fiction are: To the Moon from Earth by Jules Verne and Space Odyssey by Arthur C.Clarke.

Language Features of Narrative Texts states that language features of narrative text are:
a. Using processed verb
b. Using temporal conjunction example: one day, a week, later, then long time, long time ago, when, etc.
c. Using simple past tense example: lived, stayed
d. Using noun phrase example: long black hair
e. Using pronouns example: I, me, they, their, it, its, etc.
f. Using nouns example: tree, road, stepsister, housework
g. Using saying verb example: said, told, promised

Ranup Lam Puan Dance

Ranup Lam Puan Dance This traditional dance in aceh, it is called Ranup Lam Puan dance. One of Aceh's life philosophies is upholding high hospitality in welcoming guests. This Life Philosophy is so visible in the Acehnese daily life, even at their art and culture. One of them is through “Ranup Lampuan Dance”. Ranup Lampuan in the Acehnese language means Sirih Dalam Puan or Betel on the tray. Puan is Acehnese typical betel tray. Ranup Lampuan is Acehnese traditional dance which is a symbol of the Acehnese custom in welcoming guests. Guests are usually welcomed with full honors by presenting ranup or betel.Ranup Lampuan is usually danced by female dancers. The dancers must be female, because the job of presenting betel in Acehnese custom is done by the women. The dance movements show how the betel presented to the guests. The role of the students in the silent way teaching method . Gattegno sees language learning as a process of personal growth re­sulting from growing Student awareness and self-challenge. The learner first experiences a "random or almost random feeling of the area of activity in question until one finds one or more cornerstones to build on. Then starts a systematic analysis, first by trial and error, later by directed experiment with practice of the acquired sub areas until mastery follows" (Gattegno 1972: 79). Learners are expected to develop independence, autonomy, and responsibility.
